Do as I say, not as I do
Well, it's been an interesting couple of weeks in Katherine-land. Last week I was on vacation in Hilton Head - one of my favorite places. Time with family is great. And time with family in a favorite place is even better.
However, I developed a full body rash AND contact dermatitis (poison ivy or similar) on my arm. So, I was itchy and uncomfortable for most of the week. I visited the doctor on Monday and I am definitely feeling better apart from not being able to sleep because of the steroid treatment (fun!).
Over the last 5 months, I have also been dealing with pain in my shoulder that has been getting steadily worse. While my PT friends have been super about helping me out here and there, I finally got it checked out by a doctor, had a cortisone shot (more steroids!) and have my script for PT.
I know for certain that all of this is a direct result of not taking great care of myself this spring. As most of you know, I am living through the never-ending home renovation, and I have allowed that disruption to derail my fitness routine. And not having a kitchen has had a significant impact on my diet. Add these factors to stress, and you have a perfect storm of my body saying "enough is enough".
Some of you have had to bear the brunt of that this week with late cancellations and I am so sorry, but appreciate your well wishes and great attitudes about the whole thing!! You make my job a great pleasure.
Things are really tight in the schedule until I return from vacation. But, the relocation is bringing some other changes that will allow me to bring some balance back into my own life which should translate into less disruption to our time together.
Part 2 of my vacation is scheduled for Sept 5-19.
I am on schedule to relocate to my home office beginning Tues Aug 30. The new address is 40 Avondale Rd in Harrison. Don't worry - lots of reminders will go out about this!
Effective in the new space, I am adjusting my hours. After many years of working evenings and weekends, I am finally in a position to work the hours that better align with my natural energy patterns. That means fewer evening appointments, and more early morning hours.
Mon | Thurs 7:30am-4pm
Tues | Wed 7:30am - 6pm
Fri 7:30am - 1pm
My late slots on Tues and Wed are already filled by long-time clients with standing appointments. But, I have LOTS of morning and mid-day spots available. Early times are perfect for a massage or reflexology session before work, or after school drop-off.
Within these hours, I will still see 3-4 people per day to maintain a weekly maximum of 17 clients/week. So while it looks as though I have more hours available, once enough clients are booked, the day closes. So, continue to schedule well in advance.
Appointments by referral only
Because the schedule has been so jammed, I have made the decision to cap the client list. This means, I am taking on NO NEW CLIENTS from the general public at this time. However, I will accept new clients by referral (assuming there is room on the schedule), so you may continue to refer people - and get your $20 discount!
However....please do not refer clients seeking evening or weekend appointments. This happens a lot and I just don't have the availability and hate not being able to accommodate. If you have friends who work in the city and need massage referrals, I know lots of great therapists there, so let me know.
I think that's it for now. Thanks for being so awesome. It's going to be a great autumn!!
