What I did on my summer vacation
What a glorious summer this has been. After that interminable winter, I was sure it would either be oppressively hot or it would rain until mid-July and THEN be oppressively hot. I am so glad I was wrong. It's been just stunning! (And appreciated since the a/c in our car broke in May.)
I have been up to so many wonderful things! It's our first summer out of the city in ages and we have a patio so I have been container gardening. We have lots of potted flowers (which I have managed to keep mostly alive), tomatoes, and basil. There are lots of fat bumble bees bobbing around pollinating and it's quite soothing to sit outside and enjoy the nature. My parents also gave us an incredible bird feeder and we are having fun identifying all of the local urban species and seeing their different personalities.
I also learned to row crew which was challenging and exhausting, albeit wonderful. You can't beat a sunrise on the water to start your day. I have also been training for a half marathon that takes place in Richmond in mid-November.
Let's see...there was also a lobster roll tour of the Connecticut coast one afternoon, and a 5 day trip to Vancouver. If I disappear on you, look me up in Vancouver - I could move there in a minute. What a beautiful place, and the locals couldn't be nicer or more relaxed (all of that clean, fresh air is good for the body and mind)!
I hope you have had a terrific summer as well. I look forward to getting back on schedule and seeing you all on a regular basis again.
Due to the demand, I have added more office hours. I am now available:
Monday - Friday 10am - 7pm and Saturdays 9am - 12pm.
Next month, I'll be talking more about how the schedule works so you can better determine when to book your sessions and make sure you get the days/times you want.

So, how bad is it?
This is probably the most common question I get from clients. It always makes me think of all those hospital dramas: “So, Doc. How bad is it?”. It is phrased in a myriad of ways such as “How bad is it?”, “Is it really bad?” “It’s bad, right?”, and “Is it the worst you have ever seen?”
One interesting thing about these questions is that they are always phrased in a negative way. And there is probably something in that for a future essay. But, what I want to talk about now is how to respond to this. What do you want to hear? Do you want to me to affirm that your muscles are in a bad way? Or be reassured that they are not?
Don't forget to connect on social media. Freebies and discounts exclusively for social media subscribers beginning in October!
I also alert to last minute appointment availability on social media, so it pays to stay connected.
Tis the season for bountiful herbs! This is my personal pesto method and it can be modified in any way you see fit. I hate pine nuts, so I use walnuts. Love garlic? Add more. Hate it? Leave it out. Sometimes I also use a mix of whatever random herbs I have on hand instead of using all basil. Basically, it always turn out great. How many other things in life can make that claim?
Great for pastas, soups, and grilled fish and meat. Summer, I love ya!
